Method 1. Delete Status from the File Manager App

The steps are given below.

Step 1. First, you have to need a File Manager app on your Android phone. So, download and install a file manager app from the Play Store. Here is the list of the best file manager apps for Android. You can use any app you want. If your phone already has a file manager app, then skip to the 2^nd step.

Step 2. Now open the WhatsApp app and tap on the status tab. After that, see the status that you want to delete from your phone. Before deleting, you must see the video or photo from the status. Because when you see the status, the media file will be downloaded to phone storage. After that, close the WhatsApp app.

Step 3. Now open the file manager app and go to the settings. Enable the show hidden files option from the settings. The options/steps may vary according to the file manager apps. But, you can easily find it from the settings.

Step 4. Go to the Internal Storage » Android » media » com.WhatsApp » WhatsApp » Media » .Statuses and you will see all viewed statuses. Delete the specific media file from the “.Statuses” folder. To delete, tap and hold on the file and you’ll see the option to delete.

Method 2. Hide or Mute Someone Else Status on WhatsApp

When you mute the status update of any contact, then the update won’t appear at the top of the status tab i.e. in recent updates and viewed updates. The muted updates will be hidden at the bottom under the “Muted Updates” option in the status tab.

To mute the status updates, Open the WhatsApp application, and tap on the status tab.
