Steps for Google Drive for PC (Desktop)

  1. Open Google Drive on your PC web browser by opening drive.google.com URL. Log in to your account.
  2. By default, the My Drive tab will be open. If not, then click on the My Drive option from the left navigation pane.
  3. Now you’ll see the suggestions under the Suggested title.

Note that Drive shows another file in the suggestion when you remove it. You can remove other items too using this method.

Steps for the Google Drive app for Android and iOS

  1. Open the Google Drive app and tap on the Home option from the bottom tab. After that, you’ll see the two tabs -Suggestions and Notification.
  2. By default, the suggestions tab will be open and you’ll see the suggestions on your screen.
  3. Tap on the Kebab Menu (three dots) next to the file you want to remove and select the “Not a helpful suggestion” option from the list. Clear Recent Suggestions in Google Drive App

How to Disable Suggested Files on Google Drive

Disabling the Suggested feature is best if you don’t like this feature or you don’t use or open files from suggestions.

Note that you can only disable it on the web version. The steps are given below. Let’s get started.

  1. Open drive.google.com your desktop web browser and log in to your account.
  2. Now click on the Gear (Settings) icon from the top right. After that, select the Settings option from the list. Open Google Drive Settings
  3. On the Settings page, scroll down to the end of the page and uncheck the “Show suggested files in My Drive” option from under Suggested files. Uncheck Show Suggested Files in My Drive
  4. That’s all.

Now go to My Drive, and you’ll see the suggested option is no more visible.
