Everything You Need to Know About Call of Duty Mobile: Season 1
Let’s be honest. January can feel like a slog. The holidays are over, winter drags on, and your gaming library starts feeling stale. But Activision clearly got the memo, because Call of Duty Mobile Season 1: Wings of Vengeance landed on January 15, 2025, with enough new content to keep your thumbs busy well into spring. Here’s what’s arrived…
The XM4 Assault Rifle Finally Arrives

The veterans of Black Ops Cold War are aware that XM4 is a workhorse. It is currently available in COD Mobile as a free Battle Pass reward at Tier 21, and it delivers on its hype. This fully automatic assault rifle provides good damage, has a high rate of fire, and has controllable recoil, which is largely vertical. Translation: You will not fight with your own gun as you attempt to make shots.
The weapon works best during close to mid-range engagements, which normally shoots off four to five shots to kill the targets. Combine it with the appropriate attachments, and you will have an all-purpose weapon for both aggressive rushers and players who play the game methodically.
On top of the XM4, there is the Control Field Operator Skill that can be unlocked by the player. This two-fold capability forms a zone that disrupts the recovery of the enemy and accelerates your healing process, along with that of your team. It is a game-changer in the objective modes where possession is important.
Three New Multiplayer Modes Worth Playing

The Wings of Vengeance brings in three casual modes that disrupt the formula. Chase is a parkour race that is adorned with visuals of the Year of the Snake, and in which reflex abilities are more significant than firearms. Consider obstacle courses in competitive timing, ideal for warming up or at rest between sweaty ranked games.
In Carnival Shootout, you enter a target shooting match with 5 other players. You have pistols and melee weapons, and get points for hitting targets of different sizes. Primary weapons will not harm an opponent, but Operator Skills may interfere with their accurate shots. The phases of random teleportation help in maintaining chaos in the best way possible.
Tank Battleground is an 8v8 armored vehicle combat with a colossal Ground War map. Collect buffs on the battlefield, organize and coordinate with others, and cause havoc. It is loud, raucous, and even rewarding when your team rolls to a win.
Battle Pass Rewards at a Glance

The Wings of Vengeance Battle Pass splits into free and premium tiers. Here’s what you can earn:

Secret Caches Bring Free Legendary Rewards
It is at this point that things become interesting. The new Secret Caches system gives rewards in the form of real items to players who play consistently. With the help of everyday missions and seasonal challenges, you will be able to receive fragments for the blueprints of a legendary weapon and even the Mythic AK117 Lava Remix.
This marks the first time COD Mobile is giving away Legendary gun skins for free through regular gameplay. We wonder how the prices of Call of Duty: Mobile accounts will fare, with all these freebies up for grabs!
Your progress on your short, mid, and long-term goals can now be monitored by the revamped Challenge HQ. It is an intelligent addition that provides casual players with a reason to log in every day and not have to work like a second job.

Lunar New Year and Valentine’s Day Events
Ceremonies of the Year of the Snake last throughout the season and are accompanied by themed prizes on daily login and challenges. Look forward to festive camos, operator skins, and cosmetics in the serpentine style. The middle of February gives way to the content of Valentine’s Day, showing that Activision is aware of how to make that calendar exciting.
Why This Season Matters
COD Mobile Season 1 2025 is a clever balance between rewarding both those who will invest their time and those who will come as newcomers. The grind is worth it on its own in the XM4, but the Secret Caches system is a real movement towards the progression that is player-friendly. You add in three separate modes of play as well as continuous events, and you have a mobile shooter that can respect your time, and one that gives you the crazy fun that Call of Duty serves best.
