Top Nearshore Software Development Companies in the United States
For a lot of US engineering leaders, the issue isn’t actually finding developers. The issue is finding developers who can join a sprint planning call at 9 am Eastern, ship to production that same day, and stay on the team long enough to get to know the codebase. The nearshoring partners in Latin America and the Caribbean basin deal with a lot of that. Their time zones are very close to the US, the travel to do any on-site workshops is minimal, and the business culture is very similar.
This is a rather different approach to the usual rankings based on size. We’ve looked at the quality of delivery from each company; the maturity of their engineering practices, the strength of their data and IP protection, their ability to staff a team quickly, and what their actual clients have to say about them. It’s a useful list to use in order to shortlist partners that are appropriate for your project, your budget, and your risk profile.

How we evaluated these nearshore software development firms
Rather than rank them by headcount or revenue, we looked at each company on six delivery criteria. We used company disclosures, press releases, industry coverage, and the various review sites.
Engineering maturity and AI readiness
We were looking for established practice in architecture, DevOps, automated testing, and the cloud, as well as working experience in AI and machine learning. Partner competencies and certifications from AWS, Microsoft, Google Cloud and Salesforce would all count in a company’s favor.
Security, compliance, and IP protection
US clients in healthcare, finance and other regulated sectors require partners who take security as a given. We’ve given significant weight to the recognized certifications (ISO/IEC 27001, etc.) and to demonstrable experience of working in a compliance-driven environment.
Talent depth and retention
A nearshore team is only as good as its continuity. We looked at the size and breadth of each company’s Latin American footprint and at their investment in training and career programs that keep the engineers on the client teams.
Speed to staff and scalability
We looked at how quickly a provider can put a team together and grow it, what sort of offering they provide (staff augmentation, dedicated teams, full project ownership), and how well they scale from a small pod up to a large program.
Delivery governance and communication
We went for the companies that had US-based leadership or offices, had a structured delivery management approach, and teams that were English-fluent and worked fully within US business hours.
Verified client outcomes
We then looked at the named clients, the published case studies and the third party reviews to confirm that the claims of each company are valid in actual engagements.
Note on rankings: The order reflects overall fit for US companies across these criteria. A lower-ranked firm may still be the best choice for a specific project, budget, or technology stack.

Questions to ask before you sign
The companies on this list range from the very large (global organizations with tens of thousands of people) to much more focused engineering partners with a few hundred people. The choice of whether you need that scale or a more focused, specialist team will quickly whittle the list down. Before you commit to any of the providers on your shortlist, you should ask each of them:
- Which delivery center and country would our team be coming from, and what proportion of their working day would overlap with ours?
- What’s your average engineer tenure, and what happens if an engineer leaves mid-project?
- What security certs do you have, and can you provide us with any audit reports?
- How do you report progress, and who is accountable on your side in terms of delivery?
- Can you provide any case studies or references from companies in our industry?
If you need a partner to own the outcome rather than supply headcount, look for a custom software development company that pairs nearshore teams with architecture, security, and AI expertise.
